This contradiction - prophets preserved to fulfill Yahweh's purpose but still remain in hiding - is what we face in our society today. I can't agree more with the position that states that if not for the introduction of a value system that majors on the minors and minors on the majors, the number of good men would be more, but what can we do when the society considers values a non-essential, and give credits to the population with the eroded value systems. Our work as young Nigerians with the aim to make a difference is cut out for us in the years ahead. I never assume absolutes in anything of this nature, because people's experiences differ, and it is with such they will make their conclusions. However, this answers the questions on if there are still good men, and I believe that I have clearly stated that. Good men are not perfect men, they sometimes make mistakes. They are good because they simply realize that life is a gift and love is an opportunity. So despite our experiences, it still doesn't alter the truth. THis is because he know what I DO means....it dosent mean they are irresponsible or something...dont get me wrong. I personally is of the opinion that 30 is the bench mark for the man ie if he finds a soul mate...but where he dosent, believe me that good man will continue to search. I have also seen a few bad men that tie a good women into long term commitments, just because he is benefitting from the lady in one or the other, only to throw her out when he has found his footing, or has become financially independent...is it not said that the best time know the character of a man is when he has attained financial freedom. How do you expect a woman that had this kind of experience to regard men? Believe me, she will have the worst names in the book, she is out for revenge, and she is a scorned woman, and the cycle continues...Reggy, what i am trying to say in effect and summarise is that this is one of the reasons why the statics is dwindling in meeting both a good man and a good woman...i ask who are the good people? They are those who have had and seen the good sides of their neighbours...It is ur fellow men that make you bad..Men could have turned bad because of we women, and vice versa...Reg, your next discussion Reg should focus on the healing process....Thanks Reg.....Nice 2 meet u again.. I would suggest that while there are still good men, they are not quite as many as you seem to suggest. I get to meet a lot of chaps daily and from my interactions with them I get the impression that so many of them have grown up without the steady hand that a father only can provide. As such the key values of commitment and responsibility you talk about are lacking. In the last 12 days for instance, I have heard of, amongst people I know, at least 7 instances of marital infidelity; some in marriages as recent as 4 months old! I would aver, that whilst at heart, my generation knows what is required of good men, the desire to be that is lacking.. Maybe what we need is to spawn a counter cultural revolution of hearts to stoke the dying embers, hoping that my generation may yet be saved. I for one decided to take this year off the whole dating business, and attempt to understand the axioms that govern successful marriages. I thus can add, that not all nearly 30 year old men are not marryinng because of a lack of responsibility, maybe the realization of the enormity of the task is also forcing quite a few to seek to understand the basis, and do it right for once...
